The Manousakis Winery is located approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Chania in the village of Vatolakkos. The Manousakis vineyards are situated on the hills just outside the village of Vatolakkos at elevations of between 350 and 600 meters above sea level (1000-1800 feet).

Manousakis Winery

The philosophy of the Manousakis Winery is simple: cultivating the vines carefully and organically to allow them to absorb thesunique aromas and essence of the terroir, filling the grape clusters with their unique character, thus capturing and preserving the incredible Lefka Ori of Crete in each bottle of Nostos Wines.

A carefully selected team of expert consultants conducted numerous studies and the decision was made to plant the varieties of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Roussanne. In 1993, the first vines were planted at elevations of 350 meters (1000 ft) on 2 hectares. In 1999 an additional 10 hectares of vineyards were planted. In addition to playing with several other varieties on an experimental basis, in 2010 the Manousakis Winery took another step forward and planted the ancient white Cretan variety Vidiano.
The MANOUSAKIS WINERY tour includes:
• A tour of both new and old wineries as well as the winery grounds
• A presentation and explanation of the wine making process
• A tasting session of 5 different wines (the type of wine is dependent on availability and is subject to change) paired with Cretan rusks, olive oil and sea salt.
• Free admission to the art exhibition held in the old family home.
